This is not classic, is, more likely, a breakthrough!
So ... for you, new players to Where on (Google) Earth, simply post a comment with latitude and longitude and write something about the geology in the picture. If you're the first, you get to host the next one.
Now, that I know a little bit more of the clues/hints/tricks of the game I consider this one (snow and a lot of green) a bit easy, so ... I'll give rookies a chance - I invoke Schott's Rule: former winners have to wait 1 hour for each WoGE they got right.

43.4305°, 40.3202° Krubera Cave, Abkhazia, Georgia. It is the deepest-known cave in the world. The difference in the altitude of the cave's entrance and its deepest explored point is 2,197 ± 20m. The entrance is 2250 metres above sea level. The surface of the 13 km distant Black Sea is therefore only around 60m deeper. Very likely there are more deeper parts of the cave, which are currently unknown.

ResponderEliminar2 weeks ago I stumbled upon my "neighbor", Ana Sofia Reboleira, and her discovery of the World's deepest land animal - a beautiful karst landscape deserved a "WoGE"!
By the way Felix (and others WoGEists), was this #407 a hard one? Or are we in a "drought"? I mean, this one, with snow and a lot of green is, to me, a lot easier than, for example, this one!

ResponderEliminarYour Woge was not easily found, as the mountain looks totally different with a scale >9500m, because of the snow and two different pictures. I, and all the others, were scanning with a scale of 10.000 or 20.000 and missed the place. After I went down to a scale of 5.000 and scanning just over the most probable areas (Caucasian Mountains, parts of SE Europe, parts of the Alps and Pyreneans) I've found it.
Well, it looks a lot easier than yours #408 ;)
